Stephen Lavery has an MBA from McGill University and comes to Grantbook with 6 years-experience project managing and implementing Salesforce for grant management.

He has dedicated his career to social impact. Stephen began as an elementary school teacher in the Bronx, NY before moving on to educational programming at Jumpstart. He discovered grants management in 2013 when he joined Commonwealth Corporation, a quasi-public workforce development agency in Boston, MA. There, he spearheaded the transformation of the use of Salesforce for grant management, led ad-hoc cross-functional teams to make process improvements, and even managed a portfolio of workforce training grants. Among his projects were online applications, grantee portals, and invoicing and reporting systems. Stephen also led volunteers in teaching math to adults pursuing their high school equivalency exams (Hi-SET & GED) for 6 years with X-Cel Education and Boston Cares. During this time, he helped X-Cel adopt and implement Salesforce for student enrolment management.

A desire to build a solid foundation of business skills brought Stephen to Canada in 2019 to pursue an MBA at McGill University. He graduated with concentrations in Strategy & Global Leadership and Business Analytics in 2021 and joined Grantbook shortly thereafter in the role of Philanthropy Technology Project Manager. In his free time, Stephen enjoys traveling, posting pictures and videos of his dog on Instagram, and improving his French while living in Montreal.
